Teen Mom Series Finale Recap

Teen Mom Series Finale
"Wake Up"

Catelynn:
April is working on staying sober. She says that she should probably divorce Butch but she loves him. Catelynn and Tyler take her brother for the night so her mom can go out and have some grown up time. Tyler's dog poos on the floor and he does the right thing in disciplining the dog but goes overboard with the screaming at him and makes Nick cry. I felt so bad for that little boy he looked so devastated. Tyler realizes that his temper is out of control so he decides to talk to a counselor about it. He ends up opening up about his father and his fears that his dad will die alone. Tyler writes a letter to his father basically cutting ties with him and telling him that he can't go on this way. Tyler confesses to Cate that sometimes he does wish that they had kept Carly... but he is happy with their decision. They both are.

Amber:
Amber is dating someone knew and he actually doesn't look like a loser this time. He has a place of his own and takes care of himself. The two go out for Italian food. Gary is upset though because he claims that he wanted to be with her. Even though he hasn't been acting like it. So even though Amer and Gary agree to throw Leah a party together, he goes ahead and does one on his own without her. Gary and Amber have court the next day to deal with custody but after a major fight Amber is re-thinking giving up her rights. Gary threatened to keep Leah away from her... again. He later apologizes and tells Amber that he wont keep Leah from her and that things will be better when they can see each other whenever they want. So Amber agrees to sign over full custody to Gary.  Amber gets Leah the next day so she can celebrate her birthday with her. They make pink cupcakes and open presents.

Maci:
Bentley celebrates his 3rd Birthday with Ryan and family, and has an awesome time. Maci is sad that he is growing up so fast. She is doing better in school in this year now that she isn't taking too many classes at once. Ryan meets with an attorney to talk about getting his rights legalized.  Ryan asks Maci for Bentley's birth certificate and naturally she says no. Ryan wants to split Bentley's time differently now, he says he wants a week at her house and then a week at his house. Dalis and Ryan's parents help him realize that he needs to focus on what will be good for everyone and that he isn't just doing things to upset Maci. (Maybe people will see that Dalis is GOOD for him now!) Maci says that she isn't worried about court but is still upset by the situation. She almost gets emotional but agrees to give Ryan a copy of Bentley's birth certificate.

Farrah:
Sophia is with her grandma in Iowa while Farrah is working on school. She takes a bar-tending class to strengthen her culinary resume and has been able to focus on school. She is still really sad to be without Sophia though. She decides to look at a school for Sophia so that she doesn't have to leave her with babysitters so much. She leaves Florida at 4am to fly to Iowa and get Sophia. She is ecstatic to see her little girl.
Farrah talks about when Derek proposed to her! Apparently when they were 16 he proposed and she said no. Now she regrets it and gets very emotional talking about it. She says next time someone proposes she isn't going to miss out again.

You may now cry your eyes out.

  1. I don't want to see Teen Mom go, but at the same time I do. I want them to do updates on REAL life now. You know, life that isn't being paid for by MTV. If you watch that show you know half if not all that money is gone that they were being paid. Driving around in Cadillac's, buying houses.
I wish these girls had a clue how hard this lifestyle really is. When you're not being paid by MTV. I'm not saying you don't deserve the money, it just wasn't all that "real."

  2. I agree with what you said. They should so a show on them where they are being secretly filmed so everyone knows what really goes on in there lives. I love the show but I know a lot of it is just for show and rating. i can't wait till next week for them to talk about everything that has happened since the show.

  3. In a way I'm glad it's over. SOME of the girls seem to think they are celebrities. Glamorizing teen pregnancy. It obviously wasn't on purpose, but that's the end result.

  4. I don't think Tyler did the right thing by disciplining the dog like that. He didn't just scream too much, he punched an innocent animal. How exactly does he think he would have been able to father a baby? They're not perfect all the time either, Tyler.

I would like to see an update on these girls in about 5 years when they're all broke from being stupid with their money. That's when I'll start crying .. tears of laughter. In the meantime, no tears will be shed for them.

    1. I agree. The way Tyler treated that poor dog was completely inappropriate and scary. I felt bad for Catelynn's brother because he was so terrified he was balling his eyes out, but also, it's not okay to treat animals like that. A lot of experts in animal behavior do not even agree that punishing an animal is the best way to train them because it teaches them to fear you, but REGARDLESS, he was bordering on animal abuse and I hope he's gotten himself under control or someone removes all of those animals and places them in a home where they won't be treated so badly.

And yes, when he acted like that I thought, thank God he didn't try to parent. If a dog having an accident on the carpet can make you that mad, I shudder to think how a rambunctious, tantrum-throwing toddler would make him act.

I was also bothered by the fact that Catelynn didn't even TRY to tell him to calm the F down when he was having fits. She may have, but they didn't show it. If my husband did that to my animals and/or made my son cry like that, I would FLIP OUT.

That's a side of Tyler that we've never seen, and while I feel awful for him because of Butch, I really didn't like what they showed of him today. Really changed my overall opinion of him.

    2. yea it was really wrong what Tyler did. violence is never the answer, especially in front of a child regardless of their age. but now imagine if catelynn would of flipped out on Tyler in front of her bro? now how would of that looked like? and how much more worse her bro would of felt. i liked the fact that she preferred to go with her bro and comfort him instead of getting all ridiculous like Tyler

    3. glad to see some people upset about it - on his twitter he's just retweeting all the people who said it showed he's a normal guy. That's not normal, and I can't be happy with Catelynn for not protecting a puppy from his outdated "discipline." (The puppy had no clue why he was in trouble.) I've unfollowed both and am actually happy I don't have to see them anymore on TV.

      Delete
    4. he punched the dog!??? I didn't see that!???

      Delete
    5. I'm so glad so many people are as upset as I was seeing how he treated the dog. Even if he hadn't punched it, it is NOT ok to punish a dog after the fact. You have to interrupt them as they're doing it and show the the right thing to do or else they have no idea why they're being punished and they become insecure and afraid. An insecure dog is a dangerous dog. I'm disgusted with Tyler for treating the dog and Nick the way he did and I'm disgusted with Catelynn for allowing it. She could have stopped it without getting heated and scaring Nick more.

      Delete
  5. I do not agree with how he treated the dog but at least he RECOGNIZES that he should not have acted in that way. A lot of people with a temper do not even think anything of it and do nothing about it. So at least he realized he needed to do something about it and went to talk to his counselor immediately

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree with this. He had a bad day and it was clear anything and everything was getting on his nerves. It scared himself, he went to a counselor to help understand where the anger comes from. It seems like he was able to pinpoint it and hopefully now that he wrote that letter to his dad he is dealing with the root of the problem instead of not dealing with it and making it come out as anger. To be honest I'm surprised he and caitlyn have turned out the way they did with the parents they have. They have a problem, they get help and deal with it before it gets too major which is more than their parents have ever done. I say great job to them!

      Delete
    2. Totally agree!

      Delete
    3. No he does not RECOGNIZE it. He said that is the 'old school way' of punishing animals. He probably knows his anger was out of control, but he apparently sees nothing wrong with the way he treated his dog because if he had, he wouldn't have defended himself that way.

      Delete
  6. Maybe they will arrest Tyler now like they did Amber.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Disgusted by Tyler, and all he has to say on his twitter about it is that it's "old school" way of disciplining your dog. What?! And to do it while a camera is filming you? Talk about idiot. I am so thankful that they didn't decide to parent. I hope Brandon and Teresa watched that episode and never let them see Carly again. Smh!

    1. while i agree that his anger got out of control last night, you're being a little dramatic by saying they should never see carly again. that's a horrible thing to wish upon someone.

      Delete
    2. yes they should see carly Catelynn needs to think about what he did and rethink if she needs to b with him or not if he can hit a dog then he will in time hit on her

      Delete
  8. The "old school" way of training your dog is sticking their nose over it, smacking their ass and putting them outside. Which is what he did and that does work. The only thing that I saw wrong about the situation was the way he was screaming and freaking out without thinking that Nick might be horrified by it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And the "old school" way of training your kids to behave is to whip them with belts, yard sticks, wooden spoons, etc. every time they misbehave, or put into a situation where they might misbehave. Notice how that's illegal now too.

      Delete
    2. spanking your child isn't illegal and people still do it. If you leave bruises, cuts or break bones then yes that is abuse. Same for animals.

      Delete
    3. You know Jamie, I've usually respected your opinions and enjoyed your general snark on this blog, but I gotta draw the line here. Justifying a cruel treatment of a pet by calling it "old school" doesn't cut it. It's not old school, it's outdated. Smacking a dog's rump and screaming at them make the dog associate that pain comes from YOU, not as a result of the behavior you want to correct. And that's the thing - it's not about punishment, it's about correcting behavior and positive re-enforcement; dogs want to please you by nature, lessons will stick more with treats than they will with physical force (plus you have the bonus of the dog not being afraid of you over time).

It's accepted practice to only correct the dog IF YOU CATCH HIM IN THE ACT, if you do it after the fact then they have no clue why you are lashing out at them. By correct I mean a firm, loud "NO. NO.", *not* forcing their nose over their excrement, *not* smacking them and yes, relocating them outside to allow them to finish. If they do finish outside, then you reward them with a treat and praise.

I mean, yeah, my parents used to smack both their kids and our dog some 25 years back, but is it justified since it's "old school"? It didn't correct behaviors in either us kids or the dog, it just bred fear and animosity over the years.

      Delete
    4. 1. Old School were his words.
      2. He wasn't being cruel
      3. He did catch the dog in the act, and acted accordingly
      4. It's obvious his screaming and anger were over the top, hence why he got help and talked to someone about it.

      Delete
    5. 1. He's not exactly the dog whisperer, let's not let him define what "training" is.
      2. Shoving a dog's nose into feces is, in fact, cruel.
      3. Didn't seem to be "in the act." All the sudden they smelled it, it's not like the dog was crouching. So the dog went about his day playing with his friend and all of the sudden a big person is yelling at him and shoving his nose into his feces. Yes, what an effective training method. Next time, take the dog outside regularly.
      4. He's not the victim!

      Delete
    6. ^^Yes to all the above.

One other thing to clarify - my parents abused myself and my siblings as kids. They never broke bones, broke the skin or caused bruising. If that's your criteria for what defines abuse, then you are disqualifying what constitutes the majority of child/animal abuse cases.

Example: when I was 5, I lost my hair brush. My mother thought that backhanding me across the face was a good way to handle that. No bruising. No broken bones. So it doesn't count? It didn't make me keep better track of my things and taught me that the people who cared for me were unpredictable and hurtful. Animals work on a similar level.

Or the time I spilled paint on my bedroom rug when I was 6; a slap right in the mouth. This kind of stuff happened daily, over trivial things that a child does, but according to your definition, that's not abuse? If you saw ANY of the Teen Moms slap ANY of their toddlers, you'd have a fit.

      Delete
    7. Why is it considered cruel to rub a dogs nose in his feces??

I had a dog once, and he liked to eat his sh*t. Im sure if you asked him if he thought it was cruel, and of course if he could talk, he would tell you it was more like a treat.

So wow, after watching the past 4 years of his life, Tyler does ONE thing people don't agree with and it goes from

"Omg I have the up most respect for Tyler. He is wise beyond his ages and super mature."

      to,

"I am SO DISGUSTED with Tyler! I am so happy he didn't parent and he should never be allowed to see Carly again!"

That's a little stretch, don't ya think?? I mean come on, Tyler defines the word normal. Unlike anyone else on that show.

      Delete
    8. People are getting so dramatic about this. Don't play dumb. There is a difference between child abuse and discipline. When people "rub their nose in it" I don't think anyone actually shoves the dog nose IN his shit. For me that mean you stick his face right over it so he SEES it. The goal is not to suffocate him.

      Delete
    9. Best analogy I've seen on the issue (look it up on wiki answers for the whole well-informed article):

"When we get puppies they are similar to human babies, so would you rub your baby's nose in feces?"

"Pushing a dog's nose in their own feces is a poor training technique. It often frightens them more than trains them.

It is absolutely animal abuse. Think about this: Remember when you were young and going through the tough time of potty training. Would you like it if someone rubbed your nose in your own waste to potty train you? Can you find another way to train your dog according to his or her own personality? [...]

To overcome this, you need a direct and harmless means of making a connection.

This is a way to get your frustration out and does not teach the animal anything. If the dog is going to the bathroom on the carpet, you are not taking them out enough.

Scolding a dog for going potty inside will only make the dog afraid to defecate in your presence. The animal will not infer that it is the location that makes you dangerous, rather than the act of defecation per se. Scolding for any reason has bad consequences for the relationship. There is always a better way.

When you see your dog is about to go inside, immediately take it outside. Do not scold, just go. Give the dog lavish treats and praise when it finishes. If you are too late and the dog goes inside, just clean it up with a cleaner that's made specifically for the purpose and do not interact with the dog at all."

Also, at least for me, this incident doesn't villianize Tyler for me. We never see the whole story and we never know how many outbursts like this he has, so it's unfair to let this be a deciding factor about his personality. I still like him all in all. What I am here to do is defend the dog, not Tyler's actions, and inform people of what constitutes abuse and mistreatment. Think about it - if the scenario was enough to make poor Nick have a meltdown, what's the dog, who can't process as much as a 5 year old, going to make of it? At the end of the day the practice of screaming, shoving a creature's face in its own crap and/or whacking it is archaic and serve to scare and upset rather than teach.

      Delete
    10. You want to know how I know that's crap? Because I've trained more than one dog that way, and they learned. They weren't abused or treated poorly in anyway. In fact they were part of the family. I never put a dog's nose directly into feces. Like I said before, suffocating them with their own shit is not the goal. The goal is to SHOW them the poop. Not rub their face all in it.

      so much melodrama about this.

      Delete
    11. Well, as an adult, I know where to find my hairbrush and how not to spill paint on the carpet. Didn't need the screaming and corporal punishment that my parents thought was discipline along the way. Same with the dogs who had their faces held over their own waste and were screamed at. They learned to ask for the door and fear the hands that fed them.

      Delete
    12. Tyler PUNCHED his dog. That's ABUSE. That's not "training". End of discussion. This has nothing to do with the old school method, this is about Tyler abusing an innocent creature.

And yes, he did punch it. He said on camera that his mother is worried about his anger for PUNCHING the dog.

      Delete
    13. I saw no punching. I'll have to watch it again.

      Delete
    14. The actual punch wasn't shown. But when the dog is shown outside, it is staggering and looks dazed. He did however admit on camera that he punched the puppy.

      Delete
    15. Okay, I just watched the episode again. He did not say that he punched the dog. He said "my mom sees me punish the dog" Not punch the dog. He had a mouthful of pizza and they had to put what he said up on the screen.

So that is good news. There was NO punching of the dog. He even says that he feels bad for yelling at him all the time and apologizes to Caesar! <3

      Delete
    16. Just watched the episode again and no, there was no punching of the dog as every one seems to think. The scene cuts from Tyler picking the dog up and carrying him over to where he had pooped and then to Nick and back Tyler putting the dog outside, I saw no punching.

      Delete
    17. how can you compare rubbing a dogs nose in feces to rubbing a babies nose in feces!?!?

A dog is an ANIMAL> They willingly eat their poop. Babies do not. End of story.

      Delete
    18. HEY HIPPIES STFU!!!!!! seriously. He shouldn't have yelled like hat but seriously! Why the hell would you give the dog a treat for finishing his shit outside after he started inside! He needed to be punished. You're all wrong so just be wrong and have dogs that shit all over your hosues

      Delete
    19. Jamie, he didn't reprimand the dog, smack his butt, and put him outside. He raged on the dog, grabbed him by throat, shoved his face in poop, and then threw him out the door. He didn't place the dog gently on the ground outside to show him where to go. When the cameramen got out there, the dog was recovering from being either kicked or thrown and was on his back. That is NOT NORMAL.

To another poster -- I am the furthest thing from a hippy you've ever seen to the person that is right above me. Stop being ignorant. We just love animals and hate to see them being abused by irresponsible owners. Because let's not forget that it was actually TYLER'S FAULT that the dog went to the bathroom in the house. Puppies need to be taken outside once an hour or they will have an accident. They need to be taught that their owners care for them and love them, not that they're going to be treated like trash if they have an accident. I feel so sorry for that poor little puppy. Tyler seemed completely unhinged.

      Delete
    20. We really don't know whether he punched the dog or not. The fact that Tyler's mother is concerned is probably reason enough to think there is something wrong with the situation. Just because they didn't show it on national television doesn't mean it didn't happen. Like I said before, Tyler seemed completely unhinged and unable to control himself so there's no telling what he did to that dog when the cameras weren't rolling.

      Delete
    21. The actual disciplining was hardly shown at all, all you see is him yelling. Which was out of control for sure. His methods of teaching the dog were not.

Everyone should be happy to know that Caesar how grown into a very large, well behaved, loyal and smart dog. He now lets himself out! He is totally fine so I doubt there was abuse going on.

He got help and learned why he was so angry. Lets not judge him over the outbursts shown in one episode out of the entire series.

    22. jamie, why are you arguing in the comments? you need to maintain some sort of professionalism. you can have your opinions, of course, but i don't see why you need to do this in the comments on almost every article..

    23. Hey Anonymous...I am totally agreeing with your comments..As a trainer..you do NOT rub the dog's nose in his or her own feces..you are mistreating (abusing)the dog..yes..we only see one incident on this show..but one incident is one to many!! We see Tyler in the car yell and put in arm to do ""something with the do while in the car..which we do not see...we all see the poor little dog "crouch" by the couch when he yells at the dog..animals will only do this when there is a sign of abuse...Tyle admitting that he has "issues"..indicates something more to this and feels guilty on the way he treats this poor dog...negative enforcement do NOT make positive behaviour....one incident to many..great that Tyler is getting helped..BUT....Truthfully, I was disturbed by this episode..

  9. Bentley is so happy when he is with Ryan and Dalis. I loved that he reminded Maci that he doesn't want to be picked up from them. Dalis is so levelheaded with the whole Maci/Ryan custody thing (if u watch last weeks episode the editing clearly shows her "good" comment was out of context. She really is so great for Ryan. I also love how well Maci's mom put the whole thing in perspective. Maci harbors resentment towards Ryan from how he used to be and she needs to realize he isn't the same person nor can she change him and I like how Maci sort of realized that in the final scene.

  10. Tyler's temper is just the tip of the iceberg of what he will eventually become if he doesn't receive counseling. And wait, he wants to become a teen counselor himself???

Call is overly dramatic, call it 'old school' punishment, call it whatever you want. But the way he treated that poor dog was absolutely WRONG. Neither he nor Catelynn should be having pets, let alone children, right now. They aren't suited for it. Maybe they never will be. Not all people are. They saved their daughter from a dysfunctional lifestyle; I really wish they would save those dogs as well, and let someone else provide for them.

Even with all the horrible things going on in Amber's life it doesn't mean she would or will ever stop loving her daughter with all her heart.

btw, anybody know when the final season for Teen Mom 2 will be airing? I am assuming it will be sometime this fall.

  14. Catelynn- omg. the dog shit on the floor and he spanked him and put him outside. The only thing that was out of line was the shouting. I have had a 7 dogs in my life and every single one of them got spanked when tehy pooped in the house after they knew better. as puppies. no y ou don't do that because they are learning but ceasar was obviouslt not a pup therefore needed to be punished.

Amber- poor little Leah. Her dad will be horriblly emotional abusive to her when shes older if he's not already. Amber may be flawed but she is a way way better parent than Gary is.

Maci- Honestly Ryan should have gotten his own copy of the birth certificate a long time ago. I wouldnt have given it to him if I were Maci either because he wouldnt give it back and the she would have to go pay for another one. It was great to see both Dalis and Kyle trying to keep peace (when Maci said B wouldn't be there if it wernt for her and he looked at her like wtf. To me it seemed like he wanted her to understand she didnt make him all alone.

Farrah-.....is effing nuts and need to take a leaf out of Jenelles book and give that poor little girl to her parents because she will not raise her right. I can only hope someone turns into a good example for her.....and wtf kind of culinary student can't make a canoli?? come on now.

I doubt he really even proposed to her anyway. She should have just shut up and been happy for her sister but as usual it's all about her. 16. I really felt for Amber, although she'll never get the mother of the year award, Gary had no right to keep Leah from her as a punishment because she wanted to move on. Seems he played games and tug of war w Leah a lot even though amber was willing to give him full costody for the sake of leah, He should be ashamed and start thinking of his daughter I hope he behaves better when amber is released every little girl needs her mom

I would've buried my head in her face and smelled her and totally hugged the sh*t outta that lil girl. she like pursed her lips and "pretended" to kiss her. same thing when that poor child was born, they laid Sophia on her chest and she did the "fake" kiss thing again. soooooooooooo akwardly weird. and just OMG uncomfortable. this girl is only in love with herself or something. she couldn't even kiss her guy, she like blew butterfly kisses at the elevator. soooooooooooo weird again. kiss your child. kiss your boyfriend (when you can keep one) and for gods sakes kiss your father for even dealing with the fact that you call him "Michael". you serious jerk!!! how can you not know how to kiss your own child after a month???? scary!!!

  19. ...and the way Farrah talks to her parents makes my skin crawl!!! can we all say spoiled little skank? most spoiled rich kids i grew up with were smart enough to use birth control and learn the art of respect. this girl is such a pig to her parents it makes me ill. it doesn't matter how "upset" she was cause she couldn't go out and bone some dude, she had everything she ever needed. be upset when you have nothing to eat for a week cause your mom is a single parent working two jobs and you're just barely buying the necesities. cry me a river that your life was so trajic. please. anyone that treats their own parents soooooooo horribly and disgustingly wrong deserves what they have....no one. you can't keep a "guy" around because you are a rude ignorant undeserving horrible person. your mother is not a door mat. your father is NOT Michael....he is DAD!!!!! you sick ignorant little pig!!! how do you sleep at night? how will you feel when Sophia calls you "Farrah"? because me i do feel that someone somewhere will remember the stuck up little jerk you are and how horribly god awful gruesomely disgusting you've treated your parents, and i hope to god some day, that child, whose mouth and teeth you've mangled chooses to call you "Farrah" and uses the excuse that you ruined her teeth. BECAUSE YOU DID!!!! if you are too lazy to have a child please choose adoption. disfunction people like you should have done so! selfish ignorant scallywags who disrespect their own fathers in the most horrific displays of disgust by calling them "Michael" do not deserve the right to breed. live on the street for a week with nothing....i bet it takes you five minutes to call him "Dad" again...you are so pathetic you make me sick!!!!! you don't even deserve that sweet girl. give her to your parents. what child is stil in diapers after 12 months????? what child is EVER EVER allowed a pacifier after 3 months??? only an ABUSED child. so when she calls you "Farrah" know it was DESERVED...your father never did anything but support you.
