Amber Portwood Prison Update

Amber has actually been doing pretty well. Aside from her most recent illness that is. No updates on whether or not she ever got her tooth looked at but I'm hoping she is feeling better now.

Amber's mom Tonya spoke with mail.com about her most recent visit. She says that Amber is taking parenting courses, staying out of trouble, and singing in the prison choir. She is also working out regularly and has lost 25 lbs since she started. "She's lost a lot of weight by staying active and even though the guards and inmates try to pick fights, Amber is staying out of trouble and spending time each day writing a book about her life. "

Tonya says that Amber has already done a complete 180 and that being sent to prison was for the best. "We're already looking at getting her sentence cut in half for good behavior and once she gets out Amber wants to help rehabilitate other teen moms with similar problems to finally use her fame for good!."

Apparently MTV has contacted the cast about filming update specials which Amber is more than willing to do from prison if she is allowed. MTV has been sending Amber weekly care packages also filled with special foods and personal hygiene items.

    1. It says a lot about MTV wanting to keep on Amber's goos side so she'll be willing to film for them and make them money. Don't ever think that MTV has altruistic motives.

    2. Or to stop her from saying they provided the drugs for her (which other MTV "stars" have also said)....any network will have a hidden agenda.

  6. That is AWESOME news! And I am glad that prison is what she needed - and it is helping her! I knew that prison was a good idea, because she really needs the structure, and she needed to hit rock bottom. Sad, but true! I am soooooo encouraged by this news, and hope that she will continue to kick ass!

Good job, Amber! Keep it up!

  9. Good for Amber. That poor girl didn't have a chance at life from the get-go. However, the only part about this report that makes me suspicious of her "180" is the comment "and even though the guards and inmates try to pick fights, Amber is staying out of trouble...". Seriously? That sounds like the old Amber to me.

  11. I've liked Amber from the beginning, even when she has done/said things I do not at all agree with, but she is only human. We all make mistakes somewhere along the way. It good to hear she is improving a lot.

  12. And hear I though Amber was going to rot in prison and we would never hear from/about her again. I am so glad that I was wrong. It's wonderful to hear that she is doing well for herself, and I truly hope she can keep it up. I wish nothing but good things for her.

    1. Do you mean Cate? I wrote about that. Just took me a bit to get around to it. If it's something else do tell!

  14. I don't think the care packages MTV sends will make up for the fact that they helped contribute to her bad behavior by providing drugs to her!

    1. She would have found drugs either way. It is not MTV's fault. I like Amber. I feel bad that she had such a crappy home life. I did growing up too but I don't even drink or smoke.I don't know what made the difference but I have a lot of empathy for her. I hope her heart heals. I hope she works the 12 step program completely. I hope she doesn't rush into a relationship right after prison. She is still young and has her whole life ahead of her.

Yes she made many mistakes. Especially hitting Gary although I don't think he is innocent in all this at all. He really knows how to instigate fights. I also know it was wrong for Amber to take medication that was not prescribed for her but I would bet over 50% of Americans have. Especially teens. Have either given someone some of their meds or taken someone else's meds. She wasn't dealing them. She wasn't shooting up meth. She just needed someone to love her. I hope she can repair her relationship with Leah before it is too late. Leah needs to know the love of to strong parents. I don't feel Gary is the best father for her. I think he is in it for the attention. And he broke the law because of statutory rape so he is not without guilt either.I wonder why they didn't prosecute that offense! That seems pretty bad too.

I hope Amber got her tooth fixed and her pain goes away. I am glad some people are standing behind her. She needs that so much. She needs less judgement and more love. You know the saying "He who is without sin cast the first stone." That would leave NONE of us worthy to throw a stone. And the One that would be worthy would be the first to embrace her!

    2. Gary is not a bad father. I was just reading these comments and you are the only one saying something bad about someone else.

  15. Do you have proof of that? Or just rumors? I can't imagine it's true.

  16. Hell they better give that bitch a basket!!! They are the reason that she's where she is today! She wouldn't be in the spot light and used as an "example" and would have never had money to help get her to where she is today without the help of mtv haha but oh well it is what it is when it comes down to it she did it to herself. It's called self-control

  17. So glad that Amber is doing great and turning her life around for the better. While she is there she should look into schooling and see if she can take classes for becoming a relief councler. KEEP UP THE GREAT POSITIVE ATTITUDE AMBER AND STRIVE FOR NOTHING BUT THE BEST CAUSE YOU DON'T DESERVE NOTHING LESS. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP GIRL. ALWAYS ROOTED FOR YOU when everyone else wasn't. GOD BLESS YOU AMBER!!!!!
