Leah and Jeremy Go on a Date

Leah Messer and her fiancĂ©, Jeremy Calvert, enjoyed a night out at the popular restaurant, Dick's Last Resort. If you have ever been to one of these restaurants, you probably know that the waiters treat you terribly (on purpose). They often yell at you, refuse to get you what you want, and throw your order on the table. They also make paper hats and write obscene, often sexual things on them and you are forced to wear them throughout your meal. Fun stuff!

Leah tweeted a  photo of Jeremy wearing one of the infamous paper hats. His read, "Even UPS couldn't find my package." Leah's read, "My nickname is doorknob cause everyone has had a turn." Not gonna lie... I laughed. The lovebirds were at the Dick's Last Resort in Gatlinburg, Tennessee where they headed on a road trip on Thursday. Maybe they will visit Maci and co.?

It Wont Happen to Me

According to NY Daily News "In a survey of thousands of teenage mothers who had unintended pregnancies, about a third who didn't use birth control said the reason was they didn't believe they could pregnant."
After reading this article I was inspired to put together a little list of sex/pregnancy myths and some educational links for anyone interested! (Dr. Drew covered most of this on the Teen Dad Special but lets have a little refresher course.)

Myth Vs. Truth
Myth: You can't get pregnant the first time you have sex.
Truth: A girl can get pregnant whether or not it is her first time.

Myth: You can't get pregnant if you have sex while on your period.
Truth: Sperm can survive for several days after sex, so even if you have unprotected sex during periods, it may still stay in your body long enough to get you pregnant.

Myth: If he pulls out before ejaculation I can't get pregnant. (This is a big one)
Truth: As soon as a man gets an erection he starts producing fluid which includes sperms which is enough for a woman to get pregnant. The pull out method is a no no.

Myth: Using 2 condoms is fool proof!
Truth: two condoms increases the friction between the condoms. This friction then can lead to the rupture of both condoms, so for all those thinking they need a back up, just stick with one.

Myth: You can't get pregnant if you have sex in a pool or hot tub.
Truth: You can get pregnant in a hot tub or pool just as easily as a bed.

Myth: If the girl is on top she wont get pregnant.
Truth: Those little sperm are good swimmers and can very easily swim upward if the girl is on top. Or in any other direction for that matter.

Myth: You can't get pregnant while breastfeeding.
Truth: Breastfeeding will not make a woman “immune” to getting pregnant. Breastfeeding may, in fact, delay ovulation, and hence menstruation. Still, a woman may ovulate while breastfeeding, and if she has sexual intercourse during this time, she may get pregnant.

I'm sure there are many more myths out there but this just goes to show that you shouldn't just believe everything people say. Do a little research and be safe! Here are some helpful links:

One of the best places you can go to get information and advice is from your parents/guardians. Be honest with them and they will admire your responsibility.
