Former cheerleader Leah is the teen mother of twins Alianna and Aleeah. From a small town outside of Charleston, West Virginia, Leah sacrificed everything her senior year in order to graduate, take care of her babies and try to make things work with her daughters' father, Corey. However, because Leah cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend, the two broke up and have a turbulent relationship.
Leah is a country girl who wears her heart on her sleeve and when she discovers that Alianna is developing at a slower rate than her sister, she reaches out to Corey. Now that one of their daughters is sick, the two strengthen their bond, reconciling to be there and committing to one another. As they grow closer, the continue to move fast, they moved back in with each other and got married.
Things seemed to be going well for the couple until financial stress got the best of them. They argued over what major purchases were the right ones for their family. They also had old trust issues that were never resolved. Leah filed for divorce in the spring of 2011.
Now Leah and the girls live with her now fiance Jeremy Calvert. Corey purchased his own home recently and even though they are apart they both seem very happy.
Popular softball star Chelsea dropped out of high school senior year while pregnant with her daughter, Aubree. She hopes that all of her hard work will one day pay off with a successful career as a dental hygienist and a stable home for her favorite boy, Isaac. When she couldn't deal with living with her mother any longer she moves out into her own apartment with the help of a program for homeless young people. The struggles never seem to stop for Kailyn but she is determined to make something of her self and provide for Isaac.
For beach bunny Jenelle, life in sunny Oak Island, North Carolina isn't as carefree as it used to be. Since giving birth to her son Jace, Jenelle has found it tough to reconcile the responsibilities of motherhood with her love of partying. She has multiple run ins with the law and can't seem to hold onto a job or finish school.
As she vacillates between her dual roles as mom and teenager, she must decide if she's willing to sacrifice her youth and freedom for the sake of her son.
Jenelle is now going to school to be a medical assistant and has finally ditched Kieffer. After going to rehab to help her quit smoking weed she is finally passing drug tests and doing well in school. She still can't seem to find a roommate she can get along with.
